Not really, and here's why. If you're assigned to a trailer, you can't use PC (per Schneider rules).
And you're almost always assigned to a trailer.
So, essentially, no.

The reality is they know there is no way for them to monitor what is a valid use of PC and what is not. Considering the legal environment that exists right now, it's understandable. Annoying, but understandable.
Heck, I was surprised we got yard move. That was a huge fight, that I thought we were losing when the lawyers abruptly left the field. I think it had to do with being able to show more line 4 time at customers. -
John Joel Glanton, Speed_Drums and vipie1992 Thank this. -
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Those electric bikes are perfect for truckers since Elogs took over. Can go shopping for groceries, sight-seeing, or whatever.southtruck, surf_avenue, John Joel Glanton and 1 other person Thank this. -
So I was supposed to sit this morning and have my extended reset, but I ended up getting a nice side quest. Master Halco DBL asked me if I wanted to drive a rental car to the Indy OC to pick up a truck to bring back to Minnesota for another driver. I happily obliged. Parked my truck, packed a night bag with sleeping bag and pillow, and set out for the Indy OC.
Stopped in Milwaukee about halfway there for an hour break. Got to eat some fried cheese curds with my Dad and Grandmother. Haven't seen them in almost 2 years so that was pretty awesome. Also got a bag of squeaky cheese to being with me.
Just got to the Indy OC a couple hours ago and hunted down the truck they wanted me to pick up. Had to get a new key cut and make sure I could get the truck to start before I dropped off the rental car, just in case I ended up needing a hotel. Didn't know if I was going to be able to air condition the truck.
The truck is a p4 with 200k miles, prolly a 2019 or 2020. The truck didn't have enough voltage to turn the starter. I realized the truck had an APU though, so I used the APU to charge the battery enough to turn the starter. Started right up. Everything seemed the be in order and the APU works surprisingly well, but I'd be lying if I said I don't miss my own truck, lol.
I was thinking Gary was the only OC in Indiana. For some reason I thought the Indy location was just a fancy drop lot, but it turns out it's a fully featured OC with showers and everything. I've never been here before so this was a pleasant surprise. Something about the ambiance of an OC makes me feel like I'm at a safe place surrounded by family or something lmao.
Just dropped off my rental car and am currently writing this while riding an Uber back to the OC. Can't wait to finally go off duty and get some sleep.
Tomorrow I might pick up a backhaul to bring with me to Minneapolis so this trip will be extra productive. I think if they want me back in MPLS with enough time to take a Master Halco load on Wednesday morning, a backhaul wouldn't be wise though. I would likely end up using all 11 of my drive hours before I could drop a trailer as well as transfer all of my stuff from truck to truck, and then drop the truck off with its new driver. I may not even be able to get all of that done tomorrow bobtail, but we shall see.
I'm back at the OC now so I'm going to bed. Til next time. Drive safe!Opus, MrsWJAA, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'd like to add my own Schneider adventures to this thread.
Finished training and was told my truck was at the Carlisle, PA OC. I have no idea why they had me drive all the way there, when Gary or even Indianapolis was much closer to my home. Got assigned a 2017 Freightshaker with like 710k miles. Oof. But the trucks seems to run good and surprisingly doesn't have any apparent issues. I did maybe 2.5 weeks of OTR before they decided to slap me on various dedicated accounts, which i don't really mind. First one was pulling a cpuple of loads for Harley-Davidson, then a few days working on a Target dedicated oit of Wisconsin, which i didn't really enjoy. Tooke home time, did a few more OTR runs and got slapped onto a Georgia Pacific account here in Michigan, and I've been working with them ever since. This GP account has awesome people in the shipping/recieving office. I like it that i can walk up and they instantly know who i am and give me my paperwork for the day. Mostly out and back runs the same day. This is when my 700k+ mile truck started showing its ugly side after a month of zero issues.Last edited: Aug 28, 2021
