NC Title Transfer Highway Use Tax

    Hello i bought my very first truck for $43,900 i went to the DMV to tranfer title i was charged almost $1400!!! Just to transfer title is this normal or did i pay too much? Apparently NC charges %3 Highway Use Tax of the vehicles value please let me know

    Yep, Ive always hated that. And then charge you again yearly for property tax on it.

    Yeh its crazy i was reading this 1 truckers report thread that you can ask the company your leasing onto that they transfer the title wherever their trucks titles are so it will be cheaper or that you can get a excemption on the highway use tax

    Yeah when I was leased to a company I always took any tag program they offered to avoid paying the tax.
