Maybe if these companies get a little sense of urgency about their trucks sitting around waiting to get loaded/unloaded; or a sense of urgency with dispatching/load planning - there might not be such a shortage after all.
I think the ATA with their crying about driver shortages could end up looking a little silly if an outside study was done and they were called out on it. Their operations would appear to be FUBAR.
Right now, they don’t care because no one outside the industry knows. And drivers are paying for these companies incompetence/inefficiency with their time.
so, any journalists lurking around ? All it would take is a basic driver survey to get started with a ballpark estimate.
Even as a local driver, I get a backhaul now and then where I have to wait 2-3 hours. Had I not waited that long, I would have come back to the yard and pulled another load,, but instead I’m coming back, clocking out and G’ingTF home.
Maybe these guys will get a little more efficient when they’re making payments on fleets of multi-million dollar autonomous trucks sitting around idle waiting on BS. -
Refugees arriving from Afghanastan will be looking for work,,,no doubt happily fill the seats until they figure out what a crap job they've been sucked into.

Yes, all true.
Rates ARE way up. If you drive for less it’s not because companies haven’t raised rates way up.
My company is now at 65 cents for solos and 75 cents for teams. Just two years ago was at 54 cents. That’s a 17% increase.Bud A., bryan21384, nredfor88 and 5 others Thank this. -
