Yeah, I realized that was a screw up for sure. Went from an HOS violation to a disobedient HOS violation, but you live and you learn, I reckon.

I've been working since I was 16, and driving since I was 18. Perfect CSA score, driving record, no accidents, etc. Would definitely hurt my pride a little if I had a termination slapped on my DAC and employment history, even if I was able to easily find a job. Lesson learned: Don't make rash decisions on no sleep and at the end of a 19 hour day.

Hos violations are like the most common type of things that drivers do, mainly because of home time.

It's more about your attitude, next time don't tell them that and just do it. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I’d like a bit more detail as to how the conversation with safety went.

Did they specifically tell you to shut it down? Or was it more them saying to use your best judgment?

If they told you to shut it down and you kept going I’d be surprised if they didn’t fire you.

Although it is a tight labor market right now and that could save you.

You might want to go somewhere. You will have to live this down driving there. You can go elsewhere. That hometime is bad, unless you like that. I would say you do not mind being out 3-4 weeks at a time or you would have already moved on. I would be looking for a new place to work. It a great time to find a better otr job. Really good. The younger people don't want to work now, a lot of openings, especially with the experience you have. Doesn't hurt to apply at some and see.

It's absolutely crazy to me how many of you are completely institutionalized by mega carriers.

Never ask your boss if you can take a piss. Look em in the face and piss on their shoes if you are being micromanaged enough that you have to ask the question.
