One company I worked for. The first couple of years I would see this same driver of ours every week (dedicated runs) then I didn’t see him for a couple of years and when I did he was telling me about the scare the bosses gave him a few months earlier.
Out of the blue they told him he had to come to HQ and visit the safety department, wouldn’t tell him why. When he got there everybody was acting like he was in big trouble, they drug that out for two days and when they picked him up at the hotel on the third morning he was told he was gonna have to meet with the president of the company. Everyone at the office was quiet, they had him sit in the conference room for a while. The the president came in (followed by others) looking pissed slams his briefcase on the table, set down and stared at him, opened the briefcase then told him he was going to have to clean his truck out, stared some more before saying the fancy new truck sitting outside was his now because he is the driver of the year.Gatordude, Midwest Trucker, homeskillet and 10 others Thank this. -

Good luck there. People have gotten fired for littler things than that before. Couple years ago at JB Hunt I got the call from safety telling me to bring my load back to the Atlanta terminal and go talk to them. Got fired for pressing the accelerator while cruise control was turned on.
Thing was though that it turned out to be a good thing. They gave me a greyhound ticket to get home and while on the bus I got a job lined up with my current company that pays twice what I was making with jb hunt and no more going back to Atlanta everyday.
So even if you get fired go and make it a good thing.

Nah you’re not getting fired. Probably just getting an ### chewing by the safety and probably operations manager. Next time BS happens like that don’t talk to safety just leave in the log remarks you were delayed due to equipment failure and traffic. Assuming you’re telling the truth you only went past your clock a few minutes. I’ve done it sometimes try not to do it much as it puts you on the radar but if you go a few minutes over your clock once every 2-3 months you’re not going to hear much.

Things that hurt my brain
Waiting on the side of the road for 4 hours. Off duty. Extends 14 hr clock. Dont be dumb and log on duty for breakdowns
Got to shipper, hopefully without running over on drive time.
Once at shipper ... nothing matters. On duty or off duty til you leave. Leave on PC to nearest parking ... the aforementioned truck stop that you were planning on parking for home time.

Wow! It's just hard to believe we live in such a control freak time.Seems like minor BS to me.
