Then you are assigned a B.A.D. load - best available driver. Send in your safe and legal etas on whatever macro and quick freeform, then roll.

I've come to a conclusion about how to handle this...when they send me a load that I can't legally do, I will just accept it, then act like the kind of driver they treat us as...based on the shear number of reminder messages, they must think the majority of us are fresh out of seat warming school and have to be reminded how to do a wide variety of basic tasks all of us do without thinking in our daily job. I am honestly surprised they haven't preplanned a message that pops up when you go to off duty from your break in the sleeper that reminds you to be sure you wipe your caboose after you get done going poopie. So, when they ask if I can make it to such-n-such by xyz...I'll just reply, I dunno...you tell me, I iz gist a stoopid truk dreyever...I can't count past 10 without taking off my shoes...so I guess we'll find out, if I can't, you'll be the 2nd to know when I realize I am not gonna make it.

When I get sent a load I can't deliver on time, I just send a load acceptance message indicating I refuse the load, and the reason why.

If they call me or ask me to take it anyway, I tell them to send me a freeform message indicating that they know I can't take it on time, but they want me to accept it anyway. Frequently they do ask me to take it anyway, and I do - AFTER I get the message acknowledging that the load won't be on time unless it is repowered or the appointment time is changed.

My A/M usually sends me a message when I do that, and tells me he doesn't see why I can't do the load for whatever reason I selected. Like that preplan I said no to yesterday. After I said no, can't make pickup, I then sent him a freeform telling him, while I could make the pickup (if they'd hurry and get this load loaded) there was no way I could comply with the required 200 mile radius the shipper requires before stopping. And I got back no reply until I was sitting in a traffic jam in IN on I-70, hours later, when he couldn't figure out why I couldn't run 200 miles. If I could have stopped and typed a reply, it wouldn't have been a pleasant explanation...and I would have asked if the new math he was taught would get an answer under 11 when he added 8.5 + 3.5...which is how many hours I would have had to drive deliver the current load and then run the next load to comply with the customers request.

Good luck with that. When I was with Crete I had the guy in a wheelchair that had been there forever as an A/M. He would always do shady #### like give me a 2,400 mile load that I had the hours to run but then take it off me and give me some local 300 mile nonsense. It happened again and again. In Seattle and I said “fine, take the load but I’m rejecting the local load and I will not move until I get another A/M. After three different managers called me and a lot of unnecessary drama I finally got a new A/M and I was on my way.

It’s like trying to separate from a WalMart D/C when they’ve attached you to. Plenty of unnecessary shouting and threatening to quit before they will finally let you go.

They fired that handicapped A/M about a month after I got rid of him.

Yeah, I had a few run-in's with Corey before we had this A/M system, back when it was regional dispatch. He had his core group of buddies that got the primo runs out of his region, the rest of us got his attitude because he thought he couldn't be fired because he was an EEOC bonus to the company. I wish I was working here when they canned him, I would have loved to have waved bye bye to him in person.

Corey!!! That’s it! He’d let me get 50 miles down the road on a 2,400 mile dispatch and want to take it off me immediately.

I remember telling them I wasn’t going to move until I got a new A/M and they gave me such nonsense about how 1) there were no other A/Ms available 2) I’d have to wait for a committee meeting to discuss it next week etc., etc….

Man, drivers get a bad rap for being flaky (and many are, admittedly) but from my experience, the lower level office staff are way worse.

I'm claiming priority loads unproductive from now on they ask us to give up a full day of driving or 10 hours to accommodate the customer but who's paying us for that time? Unless they can work off the previous 10 to pickup and roll those priority loads are a scam foe the drivers they should include layover pay magnum pays 180 for layover now so should the puffin that drops on our heads

I basically ignore the 'have to take your break at the customer" part. As long as I can pick up the load and get it delivered on time (just like any other load) I accept it and just do my thing. So far, I have yet to see what the urgency is for getting clothes and bath products dropped at a customer that will be delivering them days later. It's not like we're hauling the cure for covid and have to get it distributed as fast as possible. The one I dropped last Sunday was parked against a fence and the yard guy would back it to a dock when they wanted it...and there was 2 people working there that day...the yard guy and the office guy. Now yesterday's delivery was supposed to be a drop/hook in K/C, but...no empties. Even though it was only a couple miles to the KC terminal, I had my doubts that there would be any empties there either because the guy said that they send drivers down from the yard to grab any empties they have. Besides, these people were on their A game. Floor load on an 85% full trailer and it took them less than 40 min to get me empty.(it helped that I kept the Carrier A/C unit running while they unloaded). Of course, all that time saved by their fast unloading was wasted at my next pickup in Junction City, KS where I was the 4th truck getting live loaded, and it took almost 6 hours. Thankfully they had overnight parking...but only a plastic outhouse for the drivers.
