I'm investigating Swift as a possible starter company. Their website states "$1000 weekly guaranteed pay+" as of August 2021. Since Swift is a huge company with plenty of cargo to haul (from what I hear), I figured it was easy to make that weekly. I know you have to be available 5 days a week and be willing to work as directed.
Does anyone have any feedback and experience on this "guaranteed pay" they are advertising?

Trucking is 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. Don't be surprised if they find a reason it's your fault if you don't make their minimum.
You can make 40 or 50 your first year. Keep your CDL clean and it will go up 10 or 20 each year.
While some like Swift most don't. You are committing to a year of your time please research this.LilRedRidingHood Thanks this. -
Read the fine print, ensure you can meet the threshold.
There's much better opportunities out there than swift, too.
The company I drive for has a minimum guarantee of 1500/ wk.
Shop around and do your research.LilRedRidingHood and JoeTruck Thank this. -
Chinatown is the job wizard here, he will need you location to help you with opportunities and will be here shortly.

One thing everyone seems to agree with is that all Mega carriers are basically bad, but they are a good place to start a career if you have no experience. Not one of them is "ideal". Either you get paid more cpm but get less miles, get paid less cpm but get more miles, bad/good dispatchers, bad/good fleet managers, new/junk equipment, apu/no apu, inverter/no inverter, good/bad training, and the list goes on.Don Key Hotey and JoeTruck Thank this. -
As a Swifter (I'm a reefer jockey, hence the r), I signed on to Swift before the guarantee pay, so I have no personal experience with it.
However, as a starter company, don't disregard Swift. They are geared toward rookies and in my experience a good place to get started and learn the ropes. They aren't going to throw you in the deep end of the pool and habe you sink or swim.
I'll also agree that Swift isn't for everyone. It fits me and I'm happy driving for them. But, many, if not most, end up moving on after a year or two.
Regardless, as a starter company don't count them out. I thought they were a good place to get experience. Naturally I'm biased, but I think they are better, as a starter company, than the other megas.
My opinion and YMMV.LilRedRidingHood, Maverick Griff, Spinner1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Trying to find the "fine print" is not exactly easy. I've been digging all through Swift's site (and the mobile is different from the full site) to find out the specific Terms and Conditions. Yes, I can always ask a recruiter but you can only take what they say with a grain of salt.
Originally I was thinking of joining Roehl, but I have to pay out of pocket to fly out there and find a means of transport from the hotel to the training facility. I also don't like the $7000 school "threat" hanging over me. Should anything go wrong, whether it is my fault or not, they'll slap me with that $7000 bill. I've also seen people say that the closer they get to fulfilling their contract, the harder Roehl makes it for them to complete it (such as giving less miles than when they first started).
Swift is closer to me, offers that $1000 guaranteed weekly pay, and has a Veteran's CDL Scholarship. They are also a bigger company with more freight and more options. They also deliver across the 48 states, Mexico, and Canada.
With Knight Transportation, I've heard the equipment is bad and they have no APU's. They are also part of Swift.
Prime Inc. seems to have a better review by people, but again... not perfect. I think I see more people talking about Lease Operators there, if anything.
Wilson Logistics will pay to get me up to Montana for training. However, there is no paid training, and I've read that you don't start getting paid until you are solo. The starting pay is pretty crappy compared to others, but slowly gets better over time. They also only deliver to the Western States. (I prefer to be open to 48.)
I haven't looked at Schneider, Werner, CR England, or others yet. Again, I read good and bad things about all of them.Maverick Griff Thanks this. -
I already have my medical certificate, will be testing for my CLP soon, and I'm in the process of getting my paperwork together for their Veteran's CDL Scholarship.Brettj3876 Thanks this. -
Sounds like your pretty much all set up to go. I say stick it out with them for a year. You could do worse than swift. From reading on here they're a decent place to get your feet wet. CR.E or western express would be a step down from them

Swift Refrigerated and Wilson are both good places to get started.
Make sure you let Swift know you want refrigerated, not dry van.
Wilson will let you run 48 states, but you have to let the dispatcher know that's what you want.LilRedRidingHood, Maverick Griff and autopaint Thank this.
