I know a guy cannot massage his books like he used to but I have read where there are ways of getting around some things. Let me start by saying I am not the driver that fixes his books so he can drive 18-20 hours a day. I did however would adjust where breaks would be & for how long. I am actually the guy that if I am tired I will pull over for an hour or two & then get back at it. But doing that often screws up your break times. What I wanted to know is if your hot shoting in a pickup, & dead heading back home or to your next stop, can you pull your magnetic sign with DOT info off of your rig, & consider this a personal vehicle? I have heard both on this... What is fact & what is fiction?

I guess nobody wants to touch this with a 10' pole!

I can tell the op this, the enforcement officers across the country are not stupid, they know someone with a pickup is unlikely to be pulling 40 foot PJ fifth wheel trailer just for personal reasons but as a commercial driver. They know what a hotshot driver is and they can pull you over and inspect your cab if they suspect obfuscation of the laws on commercial vehicles, and yes they can inspect the cab because the cab is not considered a sleeper.Roberts450, 24kHotshot and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I'll touch it. @ltlmore , you're asking the members here to help you find ways to break the law. I think that's called a conspiracy and it's illegal.
Go back and read @Ridgeline 's post again. It says what needs to be said.
