While that’s sort of true, you can find radios for as cheap as $5. I just bought a box of them for $50, all cobra 29. Every one of them I tested so far works. This lingered on craigs list for 7 weeks and I just ran over and called the guy.

Buy used from a pawn shop,joe blow from craigs list type of radio where you can spend more than its value or save $40 but radio has been on just as many benches and doesnt work wortha crap??
Lemmie gues your gonna tellem not to buy coax and antenna to cause you can save another $50-$100 by useing some string and a stick.....jdchet Thanks this. -

The thing I fear most about used radios is the possibility of tortured finals. God knows if the previous owner knew anything about antenna setup
