Are there companies that help an O/O set up their authority?

Google it. There is most likely a small company in your area that can do everything for you.

Join OOIDA and have them do it for you.

I think it's about $45 for the year to join them. If you are a member, ANY question that you have whether it's a compliance question or biennial update or whatever your issue is they will get on the phone and help you.

They are extremely professional and polite and they have a whole department that is devoted only to Authority and authority issues.

Joining ooida and having them do my authority was probably two of the best things that I've ever done.

I highly highly recommend them.

What is with people?

I had someone approach me when my driver was fueling up at the pilot in Saginaw this afternoon. He claimed he was driving for 7 years and he wanted to get his authority, I told him just go the ooida website and he said “what is an Odin?” I said just look it up o o d I a . com and become a member.

What? no one ever heard of owner-operator independent drivers association?

And they want to get into this industry?

 

OOIDA done mine for 700 something dollars. Done everything except my IRP and IFTA.

 

It is not difficult to do yourself. Your paying someone good money for something you could do easily while eating Nachos and drinking beer.

I was a bit confused at first but really it guides you through every step.

Still join OOIDA for your BOC and they gladly answer questions when I have called. Well worth the money.
