I'm looking forward to a career change into trucking. I graduated from trucking school in 2003 and currently have my class A CDL - after graduating I decided to stay in the commercial real estate business for financial reasons and decided not to pursue my trucking career. I am 56 years old and still in the real estate industry and now I want to pursue my dream in trucking. I have a one-year plan to mentally, physically, and financially prepare myself to enter the trucking industry because once I make the change there's no turning back. the clock is ticking!

Go for it. My grandfather drove for 60 years. Lots of older people in this profession.

Go for it. Lots of people switch careers later in life. One of my uncle's got his cdl in his early 50s after being a mason for 30+ years

Yeah you're too old. We tried to treat you new tricks & it didn't work out. So see silly rabbit tricks are kids.:D:D. Have a great time as you go down the yellow brick road to see the wizard for your dreams. All the best on your journey. Oh by the way how young are you ;);)

I was 59 when I got my CDL. 61 now. Age doesn't seem to be a factor in trucking.

You will need to start from scratch. 2003 was a LONG time ago. That CDL is beyond stale. It sounds like you went to school but never got a driving job? That is no different than never having a CDL. Find a company to bring you in and train you, stay there for AT LEAST one year. It will begin to open some more doors for you. Good luck. I started at 56.
