Logical solution is ask your friends who drive to put in a good word for you where they work. Megas don’t want self sufficient people who don’t need the money. Money is how they get full control of drivers.

Swift, Schneider, and JB Hunt are probably the best companies you can go with starting out. They have fleets and divisions in about everything out there. Get your feet wet and decide what you like. Pull dry van, reefer, flatbed, tanker, intermodal etc. Hell JB Hunt even hauls live stock. Find what niche you enjoy the most and get your experience in and then worry about a good paying company.

@Chinatown given the apparent closeness between prime and Wilson if Prime says no is it worth applying to Wilson (they haven’t yet, just curious)? Thank you—

interesting. Don’t see many people recommending those 3–but I sorta know a guy with Swift and he seems good with it.

Wilson is entirely seperate from Prime, other than having a contract to haul some of their freight.
So, if Prime says no, then apply with Wilson.

Swift Refrigerated is good. If Wilson or Prime doesn't work out, try Swift Refrigerated and Stevens Transport.

Is it the same...like sign up for their school but just tell them I want to pull a reefer? The link almost makes it sound like something for experienced drivers.

Stevens had some weird glitch, I submitted my app last week and talked to a recruiter but now they don’t show my app in their system which seems bizarre to me. I need to redo it I guess.

Tell Swift recruiter you want to pull reefers and make sure he understands that. You won't have a problem because reefer drivers are in demand all over the nation.

How long do they take to call back? I don’t want to pester the recruiters because I know they’re busy but Prime is coming up on 10 days. I’ve seen posts where people say they heard back in 3-4 days.

just wondering when I should assume it’s a no and move on,
