WMT’s Facebook recruiting ads are getting downright annoying! Almost mega junk hauler’ish in nature. Treat outside drivers like dirt for decades and then act bewildered when nobody wants to work there?

Nice, I saw sysco while I was up in Alaska they delivered our food. So sysco's got a few ice road truckers, don't think walmart drives on the ice roads. No sam's or walmart up there, no sam's period up there nowadays. Costco took over most of the west coast,.

I’ve been a dedicated, contract driver to several DC’s for almost 5 years now. I make a good, steady income doing the same exact thing the Walmart drivers do. But, I have my codriver dog with me who I refuse to run without. After being asked to come onboard as a fleet driver over the years several times, I politely say, no.. thanks anyway..
When you post you make these large sums of money, you really need to post the accurate reality of what you do to generate it. Were you able to bid on and get the schedule that’s makes this possible? Do you park every night away from the DC’s in order to generate the most accessorial pay? Do you work additional days off in order to receive additional pay?? There are so many factors that go into making this kind of money doable and it’s hardly everyone that is able to accomplish it.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t have such a secure job at your DC’s as a contract driver and you wouldn’t have such a high turnover to necessitate it..
Yes, Walmart fleet is a great job, yes, it is possible to make your stated income; but, a lot of fleet drivers don’t and I see it everyday. And, there are a lot of negatives that come with it as well… Be honest about this, it’s not right to just post all the positives and not state the realities..

    Well said.
If you ever want to drive WM absolutely nuts go through the hiring process, get accepted, and then decline the job.
When WM opened the Red Bluff DC some friends of mine went to work there. They spoke pretty highly of it, I was bored doing what I was doing, so I applied. I was called in for a series of interviews, and by series I mean a whole bunch of them. I think I was interviewed by everybody except the janitor and he might have been in there somewhere too. There was even a peer interview where a group of drivers interrogated me about everything from my views on company theft to how I'd handle a stress situation to how I felt about the pride of wearing a company uniform. I was told that peeing by the side of the road, along with several other thngs, like not wearing the complete uniform, was grounds for dismissal.
    They decided to hire me.
I decided not to take the job.
I was doing okay driving a fuel tanker and logging was going strong and, to be frank, I just didn't want to be a part of anything so regimented. I did four years in the Army. That was enough.
My phone rang every day for at least two weeks and I even got a registered letter. They couldn't believe I didn't want the job and they demanded answers. That's right, demanded. Maybe nobody had ever turned down a WM job before but whatever it was they acted like a sulky high school girl that got stood up by her prom date.
Maybe I didn't drink enough of the kool-aid but I couldn't see myself driving for them. The phone calls eventually stopped...but it was fun...and kinda funny...while it lasted.

    Cool story.

I drive for WM. I was interviewed by one person. One. And was hired.

    Moral of my story? YMMV...

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Yes, they have changed a bit with their on boarding process… it’s not quite as intense as it was, but, the process is still quite an eye opening experience for ALOT of drivers… it might be good for some, necessary for some, but, it is a bit too much for some……..
