    Because it’s REALLY profitable.

The Impact of the $1.2 Trillion Infrastructure Bill on the Trucking Industry

I’ve got a follow up question: In the just-passed $1.2 TRILLION DOLLAR Infrastructure bill, why is not a single effing dollar set aside for semi truck parking?!? Really?!? We can’t find anything out of $1.2 Trillion for truck parking?!? Not even the standard 0.7 percent of transportation spending bills?!? Not even 0.001 percent?!?

I’d suggest this tells you a couple of things:

    1) The OOIDA is as worthless and powerless as you think they are. Their real job is to act as a marketing network to truckers. Companies pay for their endorsement or marketing lists… that’s it. What a neutered group of stooges. As long as their paycheck continues to clear… they couldn’t care less.

    2) There is an outright class war going on in this country. When Tina Turner was getting punched in the face by Ike, even she eventually wised up. They want to give your jobs away to illegals before they try to replace you with machines. The white collars couldn’t care less about you. You are deplorable, working class serfs to them.

Hey, if they didn’t have some paid parking that I could call ahead and reserve, I’d be absolutely screwed on those trips that required arriving there at, say, 10 pm. I’m grateful for the paid parking, and gladly spend a little money (or points) to insure that I have a place to park.

I personally have a hard time paying
Simply because I park at the same places I fuel and spend $$$ a year on fuel with

    I’ve said it before
All Truck Stops should have a gate with a ticket
Either you pay or you get it free because you are a customer, like showers

I don’t go to Loves very often and would pay there as I’m not their customer
And the loves customer parking where I fuel should be the same

It’s a convenient service available to those who want it? If it’s not for you then it’s not for you. For others, it’s a perfect solution to an otherwise hard days work.

    One last thing:

    0.7% of $1.2 Trillion is $8.4 Billion.

Imagine if they had that $8.4 Billion for new Semi parking. Can’t find parking around Chicago? Here’s $500 million for two large 500 space truck pads. Problem solved.

Los Angeles is a mess too, how about another $500 million and two new 500 spot yards there too. Done.

Now the problem really becomes how to spend the other $7.4 Billion. That money goes a loooooong way in rural America.

Never really had a parking issue back when we were on paper and absolutely never paid for any kind of parking.....hmm. Maybe there’s a correlation.???

I’ve paid for parking 3 times lately. Once because it got me 30 min away from a delivery in Chicago, once because I was going east into an unfamiliar area, and once because I was at Danny’s in Phoenix. I like that it’s there when I need it.

Sure the federal government could spend billions on truck parking, but then where would the millions come from every year that would be needed to maintain the properties?

    1. The surface needs to be repaved occasionally.

    2. piss bottles

    3. trash

    4. because they can.

    5. some truckers want a guaranteed spot and are willing to pay for it.

I have and would be willing to pay for a spot if I needed it. Yes, it sucks but I don’t understand why drivers think they are entitled to everything. It’s a business. You only get free coffee and showers because you ( or your company) spends so much money fueling.
    Get over yourselves!
