- So I have 2016 KW T680 with isx Cummins and a 13spd Eaton transmission. About 7 months ago my clutch and Master Cylinder for the pedal went out getting off the highway, boss had roadside come out and replaced the clutch and Mast. CYL. replaced that night on the side of the road. Fast forward 7 months and the throw out bearing freezes up bc no grease. So boss has me take it to shop and they replaced the clutch again. I do a load from Idaho to Phoenix AZ omw back from AZ the new clutch starts slipping, I managed to make back to Salt Lake city and take it back to same ship that did the clutch. They said it just need to adjust the clutch, I do another load, and was running great, then all of sudden its started slipping again, once again take it back to the Same shop, and said it was out of adjustment. So this happens about 2 more times and they replaced that new clutch under warranty, I get it back, and it's still slipping! They replaced some pedal cylinder on the side of the transmission, and was good for about a 3 days and once again it's slipping. Took it to the dealership and they said everything looked fine. Tried replacing the fuel pedal, because one mechanic said it could be it because it seems to do it anytime you give it more then a half pedal, but nope! I'm literally at my wits END!

I'm sure someone will come along that has experience with that particular set up but my guess is that is a self-adjusting clutch and the self adjuster is not working.
I wonder if that is it genuine Eaton Fuller clutch or if it's an aftermarket.
And again I'm just thinking out loud but I wonder if they machine the flywheel if the depth is too great if that would have an effect on how the clutch adjusts itself.
I'm sure someone that has experience with that exact setup will be by shortly to give you great advice. -
I had a clutch replaced with the same kind of slippage. Took the transmission out, replaced clutch. Same slippage. Took transmission to a shop. I think the transmission shop called it a Slide clutch in the transmission that was bad. Both the old and new clutch that mount outside was good.

Transmission itself can't really slip, its all gears 1 end to the other. Only thing I can think of is maybe the sliding clutch on the range synchro is being thrown out under torque and when you let off it re-engages. Being that the sliding clutch is attached to a synchro, it'd probably be hard to hear or feel it being kicked in/out of engagement.
If the clutch itself is slipping it should be pretty obvious when they pull it apart. There'd most likely be burn marks or evidence it was slipping on the clutch components and flywheel.bzinger, God prefers Diesels, BigBoTrucker! and 3 others Thank this. -

The large staging area south of Fort McMurray is often used by a certain demographic as a maintenance yard. Quite common to see trucks getting full brake jobs, dump trailers with cylinders removed, axles and hubs removed etc. Almost have to admire their tenacity, if the reason for it wasn't they ran the rates into the ground.
