Most of those look like decent options, just not the type of trucking I'm looking for. NTB would probably be at the top of my list of all those you mentioned. The owner of NTB actually came to my trucking school and i was very impressed. Rather than just sales pitch his company like *cough* Swift *cough*, he cut the BS and got straight to the point. Told us what lanes they ran, what their major customers were, what we could reasonably expect to make, and that the trucking industry wasn't nearly as easy as the recruiters from mega carriers made it out to be. In fact the first 20 minutes was him talking about how tough it is in the industry, how it can stress you out, and that you can die. My only issue with NTB is that they're a regional company who mainly operares in the great lakes states. I'm looking for a carrier that i can run out west with, unlike Schneider. Eyeing a smallish carrier (95 trucks according to fmcsa) that runs mainly reefers out west and to the south named WDS Enterprises, out of Shephard, MI

How much experience is required? Doesn't have that on the website.

 

I do not know. However they have picked up a few students from my trucking school, i guess i can always call/e-mail and ask. I've also considered Heartland Express and Marten Transport but they both have mega carrier vibes to them.

 

My first job after school was with NTB. As far as I know their biggest customer was and still is Meijer. I see their trucks a lot at the DCs I run in and out of and the drivers seem as happy as any company driver is likely to be. It was a short term job for me because I hadn't figured out yet how to stand up for myself. I got bullied into running 22 straight hours between several short loads and decided it wasn't for me. I would try to object and the dispatcher would reply with "that's your load, driver". Back then Werner was the only company that wasn't on paper logs.

 

Coldliner I posted does constant California runs and back to Northeast.
Another driver just hired on with Shaffer Trucking and one of his first runs is Seattle to New York.
Again though, WDS does look good.
As far as mega companies go; that's personal choice. I prefer large to medium size companies, but that's just me.

 

Freymiller and Navajo Express both run West Coast and you're qualified for both.

CFI is out of Missouri, but is hiring for refrigerated division. Running ads all over the place, including California, and Pacific Northwest.
