Hey yall, im trying to start my own dump truck business. I've started my LLC. I'll be getting my dot number tomorrow. I have work lined up. I need a truck. Preferably new. I've been reading about capital lease. Anyone ever do this? Seems the best option for me to start out since most of the time it's 0 down..what are your thoughts.

You may have a lot of trouble getting a lease or loan on a new truck being a new business. By the way, the llc if used for taxes is great, but if you think it will limited your liability and protect your assets. think again.

What area are you in?
Dare we ask how much money you have for this adventure? And the fact that you are looking for zero down sounds like maybe not a lot?
What experience do you have? Have you called for insurance yet?
Not being negative at all but these are the important questions.
You do realize that dump trucks take a lot of abuse and require a lot of Maintenance and repairs even a new truck will be okay for a while but dump trucks are very hard on Springs and Rears and steering components Etc.
Do you have somewhere to do repairs or what is your plan for who is going to do repairs?
Please don't say you'll take it to the dealer for everything and anything that needs.
Also you do realize that in most areas in the summertime it's feast or famine and in the winter time your truck may not work for three or four months.
And the newest trucks are the first to get knocked off...
Hopefully you have a good plan. Let's hear about it. -
What area are you in/what are your state weight laws?

I'm in the St. Louis area..right outside the city...I just don't want to buy someone else's problems..I wanna get in it and run it for at least a few years before I have any major breakdowns..especially with dump trucks. A couple hundred thousand miles on one is a lot if wear and tear on a dump truck.

Weren't you an owner-operator in the past?

Do a search, your question is asked frequently.
Your asking questions that require a crystal ball. Some guys can run an old POS without problems. Some guys in a new truck can't get through a day without problems.
Dino soar post is on the money. Apparently you have priced insurance, Etc? I assume you have money to live and run on for a couple months until money starts to come in? -
I was just curious if anyone specifically has done a capital lease on a truck.

If it were me(I know it’s not), I would get an older truck, line the sides and floor of the box with wood, and start out hauling ‘construction, and dig out debris’. Within a short amount of time, you will be busier than a ‘long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs’.

I hauled that out of Boston to Ohio. 2 huge pans, tarped, C And H Cheap and Heavy , A front loader picked them up and flipped them.
