Despite my feelings about a lot of the guys hauling this stuff it sucks to see an accident like this and it sucks people got hurt.

While I have never hauled a freaking windmill blade I have done many oversized loads and are given a very specific route to follow in your permits.

Any route where even slightest risk, like some construction zones on interstates they will route you around.

No way safest route option would have been tight right turn along next to train tracks.

There has had to be a better option than making that right turn there

This is street view of the turn windmill driver tried to make.

Notice the shell gas station as seen in the video.

Most of the wind farms are out in the middle of nowhere and they have no choice but to run on the narrow roads. Most of them have no issues but some have proven that they shouldn’t be hauling tower pieces. The last 6 or 7 years or more we’ve been dealing with them in KS and NE, most are fine, some pull out and force you to drop from 65 to 0 because they think it’s their god given right to drive through stop signs when they have a pilot car. If it was just the truck and driver I would have zero sympathy after years of dealing with some real pieces of work, but it said others were injured and the blade landed on top of a farmers market so that does suck.

Do you think that right turn should have attempted?
Before getting hit by train dude plowed down railroad crossing warning lights etc

You have people telling you it’s been done many times before. So yep, it should’ve been attempted. Refer to my statement that many are good at it and some have no business doing it.
