It's just paid FMLA. You can't just take a vacation on it willy nilly. We live in the only developed country that doesn't have paid family leave.

In my prior life, I was a warehouse supervisor. One the people working in my department was a woman in her 50s with rather advanced cancer. Her unpaid fmla had just run out, and she had returned to work so she could keep her insurance. I had her on light duty, and one night she came into my office and sat down to catch her breath for a few minutes. My boss found out about this, and pressured me to write her up for slacking.

After that, I quit and became a truck driver. I feel pretty strongly about this stuff. But hey, don't let facts get in the way when you want to scream about socialism or some other boogey man.

 

It's disgusting; isn't it?! We're all too busy fighting each other instead of tarring and feathering.

was chatting with my mailman this week and he was complying about having to run two routes , because every one at the USPS gets 15 WEEKS off with Pay if they have covid .

Do you NEED the income or is this just for a bit of pocket money? A friend of mine retired recently due to a cancer diagnosis. He found a job at one of our local golf courses as a "Cart Attendant". Basically, load and unload bags from the carts, wipe down the clubs, shuttle carts around, etc. It pays $9.50 per hour plus tips. 5 1/2 hours a day, 3 days a week. The big bonus.......as much free golf as he cares to play. He is not doing it for the money. He does not need it. He spent 40 years in the oil pipeline business. He has PLENTY of money. I gets him out of the house and gives him something to do. All of the people that do his job are retired guys that like to golf, AND, their wives want them to go away for awhile! Lol

 

Or that money/profit is more important.
