It opens up suddenly at freeway speeds combined with rain and low vis. Likely going to fast with not enough warning.

Man.....aging infrastructure, especially in Mississippi, and you combine that with all of the bad weather they've had in recent years, the road got physically mattered.

Why are they driving around after dark in a hurricane ???

    that’s the big question

    Aging infrastructure isn’t a cause.
Flood water washing out the culvert and soil under the asphalt is the cause .

ive seen it happen. The water will washout the soil but the asphalt is still hanging there ,
Or maybe not , but with several inches of water over the road, you can’t tell if the asphalt and roadbed is still there or not .

    Especially after dark.

and who rides a motorcycle after dark in a hurricane ???

    JoeyJunk and bzinger Thank this.
