My experience training with a trainer

I did a company sponsored CDL program. They put me in a hotel for 3 weeks while I did school. Class was broken down as 1 week of class, 1 week of backing, 1 week of driving. No complaints about school was fine and I learned what was needed. Small class size only two of us for the 3 weeks.

I met my trainer a week after I graduated class. At first it was great but then I turned into something I dread.

he doesn’t run the AC at night because it effects his fuel bonus. The top bunk has no windows and is 10 degrees hotter then the bottom so I sweat all night. He showers once every three day so On that third day he starts smelling bad.

I got my CDL a week after I was with my trainer and the day I got my CDL we run teams from that day on. So I’m running on 3-4 hours of sleep a night and am running off energy drinks. I expressed how I don’t want to run teams But he doesn’t care. All he cares about is the 5,000+ miles he gets every week. It’s not bad I am making over 2,000 a week while I’m training but it’s effecting my health if I do this in the long run.

I contacted Disbatch and they stated I can get another trainer but I will have to wait 2-3 weeks since their low on trainers. I’m already on my 4th week so I’m just going to stick it out. Should have only a week left of this.

it’s literally been survival, I don’t like my trainer, I don’t get along with my trainer, he refuses to give me 30 minute breaks. He prefers to take his breaks while we either fuel or are at a shipper.

we drive in silence for 11 hours a day because he wants no music or talk radio.

loterally it’s been torture and I been thinking everyday if I should stick with it or quit. This small truck ain’t meant for two grown humans.

the actual job isn’t the problem. I enjoy driving and backing is fun, it’s literally just everything else.

sorry I don’t have anyone to vent to because we been on the road for 3 weeks straight so I posted here.
