I asked this over in the crete section, but figured it's good to ask here too.
I had to drop a trailer at a Walmart DC and the hole was very small. So narrow I could barely fit between the trailers, and I'm skinny.
Looking at the hole, I knew it would fit, but not by much. So I set up and did it.
First GOAL, everything looked good. Backed about 5-10 feet. GOAL again, and I was only 1 inch from trailer on my right side. It was very close. On my sight side it was looking like it would go in. But it was very close there too. It was making me uneasy.
So I wiggled it a bit, not enough, it seemed.
Luckily a yard dog came and grabbed that trailer on my right and took it. So after that, easy. The yard dogs were whipping those trailers in like it's nothing
So how do you handle those tiny holes? Is there a different setup you use? It was 90 degrees backing up and I was using just the standard setup maneuver.
Would it be better to not pull as far away from the hole when setting up and swing harder? It would get my tractor very close to trailers on the other side.
My backing is so-so. It works for docks, and most situations. But apparently not the Walmart yard.
Backing into tiny spots

You got it in. So your skill is good.
Your procedure sounds good. Back some. Look. Adjust if needed, back some more.Badmon, Gearjammin' Penguin, SoulScream84 and 2 others Thank this. -

Best advice I can give for those packed in trailers is to back it in almost all the way in, then crank landing gear down to with an inch or two off the ground and then back in fully.
I was half way to a heart attack, on my knees under a trailer trying to crank down landing gear when I saw another driver do exactly when I described above.
Yes, I felt stupid, but hopefully that driver didn't spot me on my knees doing the deed.stuckinthemud, tscottme, blairandgretchen and 11 others Thank this. -

But I came to 1 inch of that trailer. The second GOAL saved me.
I was pulling up, trying to adjust, wiggle it. But it wasn't quite going.Rideandrepair, xsetra and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
Umm when it comes to trailers in drop yards, the correct response is always..."Those scratches were already there". Always.

And don't be afraid to go and find a yard dog and tell him it just ain't possible.
Those yard dogs ding up a lot of trailers too.
