Just found this in the bunk of my 2013 cascadia. I'm a fairly new driver (3 years) & I've had an apu before so I know it's not that. I bought the truck last year & I just noticed this little thermostat near the bed. Could be a bunk heater? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I wanna know how to use it or how to check if it's even installed correctly. Thanks!

    Yes,bunk heater.
Left button is fan only. Right button is turn heat on.
left bottom is lower set point, right is raise set point.

Thanks! I'll try it out when I can. I believe it has the heater under the bed. I really appreciate it!

Test it before you need it. They build up carbon or something and won't start. They blow lots of white smoke out exhaust pipe when that happens. They sell kits to replace the burner and some people just buy new unit and replace the whole thing. They blow out lots of heat when working correctly.

At the end of every year, I burn a half gallon of kerosene thru it to clean it out. Same unit for 8 years now

They say to run it once a month during summer.
Biggest thing I’ve found is dust over the intake. Then it won’t work good.
Keep it clean. Check the filter in it.

Make sure the output side is free of any (combustible) obstructions. You're getting pure heat out of that thing without any ductwork.

I learned here at TTR that when it's not working well, like the flame is going out, etc. is to keep trying and once it gets lit to turn it on the highest heat setting and let it run for an hour or so, like turn it all the way up and then go shower. It does wonders to burn off a lot of the buildup that is preventing it from working well. It is like giving the thing a tune up. Seems like it's necessary every 4-6 weeks to keep it running good.

He'll learn that the first time he leaves his foot in front of the output. :angryfire: :laughing-guffaw:

There is a thing that comes with most trucks.
It is called a User Manual.

In that strange little thing that you must open, and actually read, are instructions for using all the little things installed in the truck.
