Have you driven them, had them inspected by a qualified mechanic, seen maintenance records, and ran a fluids analysis?
-
Individual taste to a degree, both trucks and engines have their own shares of good and bad to them.
On the average, Isx probably a little bit cheaper to fix, cat, take care of the fluids and dont do stupid things with her and youll have less small things go wrong, but when they do, theyll cost you more.
I like the cats and kws for working on em myself, but i dont know the cummins or peterbilts as well eitherJayaP Thanks this. -
Cat all the way. What's the condition of both. The stock MBN cats weren't good on fuel but they can be reflashed.
Possibly might still have 6nz. Someone that knows will chime in -

Cats can ususally take a lot more small abuse and typically dont blow up. HOWEVER, when they DO blow up they tend to be pretty pricy to fix. ISX tends in my experince be easier to work on if you spin your own wrench and tend to be cheaper to find parts for. The downskde is there was a run of them that had gernadeing fuel pumps that could brick the block and they tend to be a lot more picky on maintaince.
JayaP Thanks this. -
Know is 30k
What you think -
The KW has 400k less miles on the engine, tranny, gears, ect. The whole truck has been ran less.
The engine is just one piece of the puzzle, and there's nothing wrong with that generation ISX that's a deal breaker in comparison to a Cat.
I'd get the better truck.HoneyBadger67 and JayaP Thank this.
