OK then, I will amend my previous statement to say "the main screw up here was whoever decided upon a route requiring him to go south on 80 in the first place."

Regardless of whose decision it was, he should never have had to make that turn and cross that set of tracks.

The real pucker happens when the arms start coming down and you hope they won't hit your trailer before you clear the crossing.

Do any of these certified routes ever cut through private property such as the Shell Station in this case?

I guess what I'm getting at is, if the route says go down this road and then make a right on that road and the driver takes a shortcut through the Shell Station would that be considered going off the route?

no it would not but it also likely wouldn’t happen with explicit permission from the gas station

This horse is kinda dead at this point.

Wasn't trying to beat a dead horse, I'm just wanting to understand the certified route process and if in this case the certified route document included cutting though private property (owners permission or not).

I'm sure you don't know what the route document said in this case but are those private property details ever listed on the permitted route?

At this particular store, even if the canopy is tall enough (the drops are between the store and 183, so the fuel truck never has to go under the edge), there is very little room between the dispensers and the highway sign that faces traffic on 183.
