I use a French press. Just heat the water. Use an electric water pot.
Even then... I find that I don’t make better coffee than Pilot’s machine coffee. I have an old 64 ounce thermos. They charge me the same as a cup.

Most company trucks have a fridge already and a compartment above designed to put a microwave in. If you go with Prime that's a special case because they have two styles of trucks for dry van - creature comfort and economy. They pay you more CPM to drive the economy model but it's smaller and is missing a lot of things most trucks have - like a passenger seat. You don't get a fridge with the economy model. Like Chinatown said, drivers buy their own and put them in the space where the passenger seat was if they want a fridge on the economy trucks.
If you fuel at Love's and get the higher levels on their rewards plan drink refills (including coffee) are FREE! Get a large, insulated thermos - mine holds 2 liters - and you're in business!
Inverters vary by company. Some provide inverters, some make you buy them and have their techs install them (so you don't burn the truck down). Coffee beans are going to be hard to come by OTR.downplay Thanks this. -
Once again, I have to point out the obvious.
You don’t waste money on food, showers and laundry. As an OTR driver, it’s your right. No, it’s your obligation to skip baths, laundry and food.
Yo money bro should go for the important stuff: Liquor, snow and ho’s.

When I was OTR my weekly expenses were..small snacks from rest area vending machines. that's it. I fixed/bought enough food to last 3 weeks. showers/laundry were free from truck stop points or just doing it at a terminal. maybe once a week I'd treat myself by buying fast food from a truck stop. once in a blue moon I had to pay for parking.
I rarely shut down at truck stops. it was 90% rest areas. only challenge with bringing your own food is rationing it. if you're trying to get 3.5k miles a week you really don't have time to be shopping or spending.downplay Thanks this. -
Get food costs under control and you have the bulk of your expenses covered as a company driver.

I'd be looking at Trailliner if I lived in Springfield. From what I just read they only charge $2000 for their school. You can't beat that. It's to bad they only hire within 150 miles of Springfield.
If anyone knows of a company that hires near Dubuque IA , Madison WI or Lacrosse WI that is around that price that offers good training I'd like to know. They also have to allow the truck to go home with the driver which is a hang up with a company like J Bauer that wants their trucks at the terminal.Last edited: Sep 8, 2021

Or any store made coffee if I’m honest it’s a step below even the dreaded k-cups.downplay Thanks this. -
