Hello, I am looking for a replacement on all my rear axle tires on my freightliner Columbia 2007 day cab. I haul containers and drive regionally. The places I am usually on are dirty, have bumps, most are unpaved roads so I need good tires that will last me hopefully some time. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions.

Depends on what you want to spend. Virgin michelin tires namely the 295R80 22.5s are my goto for the rear axle of my end dump and the drives on my 579 which spends a lot of time in some pretty nasty places. Also good are bridgestones if you want the gold standard.
If you want to go a bit cheaper firestones are pretty good, also toyos have been decent though both tend to get chewed up pretty fast in my experince and dont do well around scrap.
Lastly brodgestone recaps can be had for around $230 a pop and hold up just fine on my trailers front axle. -

I just did all the homework myself and settled on sumitomo drives, Michelin steers. Couldn't get Bridgestone or Michelin drives right away anyway, national back order. Sumitomos can be had for right around or under 400 a tire and I believe most or all of them are made up in Buffalo. The 948 are a closed shoulder deep lug pattern. I bought the truck with newer bandag retreads and I wasn't going another summer with them worried about them peeling apart. Already gained 2 to 3 tenths mpg and I'm driving harder and faster because the truck doesn't shake anymore. Id steer clear of recaps, get a bad casing and you'll spend time and money chasing shakes. Out way the savings real quick.
I haul groceries from CT to Manhattan. ####test roads going . I think they're a decent regional tire. 2011 Columbia day cab. -
I got bandag recaps on the back of my 04 freightliner daycab with all good American casings. Stay away from Chinese stuff. They have been great so far. I pull containers as well
skallagrime Thanks this.
