The company I work for gave me a truck with a crack in the front bumper purely cosmetic. A few scrapes around the crack. I ran the truck for a week and then went home for a few days when I came back it was coming out of the autobody shop. Brand new bumper and I didn’t even have to ask for it.

I told the fleet manager he didn’t have to do that. And he said come on man, you don’t want everybody thinking you banged into something when you didn’t. And I thought about it and I was like #### that was pretty cool of them. He used to be a driver. So he gets it.

So to answer your question, heck yeah if they try to give you a dented truck I would ask for it to be fixed. Tell them you’re a prideful driver. That’ll get them every time.

I don’t think that’s a crazy request. I have done the same in the past. I also did a sniff test to find the least smoked in truck.

IDK, don't see where it would hurt to ask. Just be tactful and diplomatic about it. If you asked tactfully, it'll at least let them know you actually care about your/their truck and that would be a good thing!

Many companies are making due with their current equipment due to the chip shortage. Can't get their new trucks. If it is just cosmetic, I wouldn't sweat it too much. If there is other damage associated with it, note it on the inspection sheet they have you fill out with a new tractor assignment.

IDK, "Dee King" sounds awfully conceited, I am "Dee King" in trucking,,,schmuck.. Reefer has it's ups and downs, like anything, and good equipment is paramount. Sadly today, your "pride", and I hate this word now, has been trumped by outrageous costs, and cosmetic repairs are on the back burner, now more than ever. I know how you feel, a damaged truck is like walking around with your zipper open, and it tells the world you may not be a good driver. If you tell your safety dept. that, they may make it right. Herman has been around a long time, and knows full well, image is important. Good luck, and I tell you what, the "cold side" of our Walmart is always empty. These companies better start offering more incentive for reefer, or these spoiled affluent crybabies won't have their crappy food, where ever it comes from.

I hope you’re a snappy dresser with a dapper style about you. Otherwise, a request like that loses a touch of its cache.

I recommend a black formal number with a modest touch of bling. IMO, there will be no denying you’re a man of exquisite taste and, thus, a new ride will be presented to you on the cleanest asphalt at the terminal.

Seriously dude, you’re a commodity as a driver.

If it doesn’t impact the performance of the truck, drive it.

Please post a picture of the damage. You are making it sound like the hood is held on by a half a dozen bungee cords. About the only damage I ever see on a DHT Tractor are bent cab extenders from morons that back under the king pin or don't have the sense to watch their angle when backing
