I have a 2004 Volvo VNL780 that had a Cummins ISX in it that locked down on the main bearing. We have now put a 99 or 2000 Detroit 12.7 DDEC 4 in it now.

Will a 2000 Volvo VNL Cab to Engine wiring harness that came factory with a Detroit 12.7 DDEC 4 in it plug up and work everything in my 2004 or will I need to custom make that wiring harness?

Any and All help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, can someone tell me roughly how many hours it should take to complete a job of this nature?

Thank you in advance for your help with this matter.

It will not work as electronics in 2004 are different compare to 2000 model. You will need someone who can do a harness adapter. It's possible to do, but hard to find someone who actually knows what's his doing.
However if you swap cluster and the whole dashboard from 2000 to 2004, then it's gonna be plug and play, since cabs are the same and everything fits perfectly. Will only take a 1-2 days of work

    Mountainman82 Thanks this.

Not sure about throwing good money after bad. Although it was the workhorse of the fleet, That Cummins didn't show no signs of a lockdown coming. It didn't tick, knock, or rattle. No low oil presure or anything. It just locked down running down the highway and I changed the oil on 12k mile intervails.

Thank you very much for your information. When you say adapter. What if I cut the wiring harness and wire it to the Detroit ECM Specs. Would that work?

Also, on the amount of time I'm wondering about time to do the whole engine swap from start to finish? I have a situation with my mechanic and I need it for legal purposes for my attorney. He has had the truck for almost 2 years making up excuse after excuse.

I am doing a engine swap on a 2004 volvo 780 from a ISX cm860 to a 12.7 Detroit. I need some help trying to figure out where I should put that idle validation wire in the Detroit bulk head and also the 2 data link wires from pin # 10 and 20 from the Cummins bulkhead to the Detroit bulkhead. Can anyone help me with this information? These are the only 3 wires I like to complete it. Thank you in advance for your help.
