C15 Flash Codes & Scanner Suggestions?

    2006 Pete 379 with an MXS C15. Truck is throwing a flash for 95, as best I can tell. The reason I specify "as best I can tell" is because it flashes 9, 5, and then 1? I'm not sure if the 1 is a subcode like some old cars used to do, or if it's just signifying the end of the list. Definitely threw me off a bit. I know what to do if it is a 95, I just wanna make sure that bonus flash isn't important.

    My second question is more general though. What are yall using for scanners? I mostly work on cars, so I've got a fancy schmancy Snap-On tablet that does half my job for me, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what is worth buying for trucks. I know Cummins and Cat and everyone's got their own proprietary software #### - do I need to buy CAT ET or whatever the hell to troubleshoot this truck properly? Are there "generic" J1939 scanners that will do what I need them to do? Ideally, I'd be able to pull the long-form codes and subcodes, and live data streams would be real handy but I don't know if that's gonna cost me an extra arm and leg.

    Code 95 is for Intake Valve Actuation System Oil Pressure voltage low or high. This is a very common sensor to bad. the 1 means low

    I've been looking into the Snap On Pro Link Edge. I like that I can still use it if I don't update it, and don't have to pay a yearly subscription. I have a verus d10 that I've been happy with, so I trust snap on. Plus "they have a plan to make it yours for only $29/week for 15 years"

    You will need an interface, a laptop and cat et to have complete access to your engine. Go to heavytrucksoftware.net and send him a message. He can help you understand what you need. I bought cat et from him and he installed it for me remotely. I watched as he did it. I could never have figured it out on my own. I plugged it into my c-12 and had access to everything. I can run all the diagnostic tests and change all the parameters.

    I have a 10 month old Texa on and off road deal. It will not do some of that stuff Cat ET will. Cannot do Detroit back door code to shut off idle shut down and such. Does not seem to like IHC engines much.
    However it will regen Kubota skid steers and such. Seems to read codes on anything.
    When ever a vehicle goes to the dealer I believe they do computer updates. Then a scanner with an older format will no longer talk to it. Owner of the scanner cusses the manufacturer of the scanner as I here it.
    When I looked at Snap On for the 2010 - 14 ? Cats thank they had to have annual subscriptions. About $1,000? Plus the $1200 for the Cat program. Kind of hard to stomach for 6 trucks. We just sent them to the dealer.
