You’re not an a- hole, you just declined an opportunity to help another driver.

I would have, if it were me, but I’d also hand shower tickets out to the guy in line behind me if I had more than I needed.

 

even a trucker will scam you

or beat you up

or kill you

trust no one

read the newspapers or online news reports, of truckers killing others.

 

Not as common as you think, violence is not as common as in the past, say 50s, 60s, 70s.

News is news BECAUSE its out of the norm.

The grifters, yeah thats a steady feature though.

 

If he was broke down or otherwise down on his luck somehow, I could see helping him out.

But if he was just some cheapskate trying to beat the system, that’s another story. Hard for me to say without having been there.

That said, $20 to park there seems like an awful lot, I wouldn’t want to pay it either.

 

If they make enough on 60 gallons I would think the 150 gallons would be fine for the property taxes.

Not up to you or me to set their prices. The driver used their services at a known price and wanted to steal said service.
If he didn't agree to the price, why did he use the service?

 

I see where you're coming from, but I don't look at this one as stealing. OP bought the fuel, and is owed parking. If he doesn't use the parking and gives it away, the parking was paid for. Maybe not by that other trucker, but it was paid for nonetheless. In other words, the truck stop isn't out anything.

 

The simple "I don't have a receipt" answer should be enough. Just like the guy who comes up and asks me for a cigarette. I don't smoke and dang sure not going back into a store, buy a pack, just so he can bum a couple.

 

I would have swapped tickets with him.

 

Usually when someone approaches you in a parking lot , they are going to try and hustle you . Automatically just say 'no thanks' and keep walking
