Matlack used to brag about hauling a component of NASA rocket fuel from the producer to the cape by team with a scheduled call in every 2 hours. They indicated that Helicopters were launched if the call was late...could be in the tank for only X amount of hours before it became un-stable.

Remember how they always drained the big fuel tank on the Space Shuttle when they scrubbed a launch, they couldn't leave it in that huge tank and would re-fill it for the next launch window.

Most reefer companies aren't interested in jumping thru all the hoops necessary for getting a binder full of hazmat permits. Same with most van and flatbed companies. Other turnoffs include the extra insurance and training regimen and the increased potential for failed inspections, not to mention the smaller pool of available drivers who are willing to cruise the nation's highways at 70 miles per hour with 42,000 pounds of flammables or corrosives ominously perched six feet from the base of their skulls.

Johnson Wax , Racine Wi , you may have to do some intel on who there house carrier is now.
We did it in the 80s at Hansen Trucking.
Low level hazmat , air freshener , window cleaner etc , we hauled it all on a reefer for protection.
Jwax is some high paying freight , it was drop and hook on the head end.
    Hansen sold to Transport America.
    Good Luck..

Some of the stuff they use for rocket fuel is FUN!
Strong peroxides, UDMH, etc, though the two hour call ins seems a bit much.
Sounds like a typical government requirement.
It's going to be stored at the Cape for extended periods of time before a launch in any case.
Maybe it was a temperature sensitive load but a tank full and so not in a reefer, so it had to be delivered to a chilled storage tank quickly?

And what they empty from the shuttle, or now SpaceX rockets if the launch gets scrubbed is the cryo liquid oxygen and hydrogen (or methane for SpaceX), simply because the rockets aren't heavily insulated so it boils off.
It just gets pumped back into cryo storage tanks that have better insulation on it for long term storage. (and often liquid nitrogen cooled heat exchangers to recondense the boil off).
