I have a difficult time talking too much to other drivers because too many are nothing but talk.
Some of the biggest complainers I've met are the drivers that have been with a company the longest.
My BS meter stays on full alert all the time.

$.89 cpm plus excellent benefits; if I wanted more pay and better benefits, I'd put up with some micro-management.
After all, I don't own the company, so have the option to put up with whatever or move on to something better.

You're right about that. There are companies out there that offer incentives. They are nice, but I'm a bottom line guy. I look at what is most consistently achievable. What can I expect to hit my bank account every Friday? If you're working for a bigger outfit, their customer base tells the story. If it's a lot of drop and hook, I'm going for that. Less time live loading and unloading means more money, because your wheels stay turning. I look more at the business operation than I do the incentives, because the incentives aren't always achievable.

I agree to a point. Talking to honest, objective drivers will give a prospective employee the truth. I know people talk about drivers need to know their worth blah blah blah, but it ain't often drivers can go to a company and call their shot. In this industry, it ain't about what you make it's how you spend it. Young drivers need to figure out works for them, have reasonable expectations, and lower the impressionable metter some.

I do consider other factors other than just pay. Are used to be the kind of guy that could be micromanaged. I’m not anymore. It must be an aging thing or a wisdom thing. Lol I can’t take some 20 something year old sitting behind a desk he’s never been in a truck telling me how to drive. I will tell somebody like that off every single time and end up with my foot in my mouth and fired. I know myself. The company I work for now leaves me alone. And I don’t give them any reason to have to mess with me. They send me the loads and I get them there on time. I don’t have someone calling my phone at 10 hours and 15 minutes after being in the sleeper berth. They know I’m an adult and they know I’ll get the load there on time. If I want to sleep in one day they don’t care. They leave me alone and I like that. That’s probably worth about $.10 a mile right there. Lol

I don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind being corrected or giving some advice if it’s needed. But there’s a difference.

that said, the difference in pay of 20 to 30,000 per year also talks to me. Lol

my sanity is worth somewhere in between those two numbers I think. Lmao

I'd say across the board average for a 3 year driver is about 55-57 cpm . Sometimes companies will inflate that cpm if you say you are leaving for pay. I'd say try to get 1350$ a week

Remember the guy getting .55cpm or more is hauling the same loads as the guy making .40cpm. Only thing different is the profit margin for the company.

There's nothing wrong with a company paying as little as possible to maximize their profits. It's just business. But right now with the lack of workers there is nothing wrong with a driver demanding a higher wage. It is after all just business.

I’m home every night doing LTL city driving. Paid hourly, I gross $1600-$1900 a week. Consistently taking home around $1300 a week.

Pretty good I guess. But most who are hired for city driving don’t last, we have a high turnover rate once drivers figure out there’s actually work involved and you do touch freight.

    I think @Lennythedriver should be making 80-90 k a year.
