Trailer and truck parking valves

    The other day I heard air leaking from one of the parking valves. It's one of the few things on the truck I did not replace before I started. The air leak went away as I released and applied the valves but I'm assuming this is the beginning of a problem that is going to give me a problem at some point. So I think I should replace them.

    As owner operators, have you found that any brand of them is better or worse? When I need parts for my truck I have no problem paying for a good quality product, but I hate to pay extra money for something if it's the same product and with this I really don't know.

    Also my brake Chambers are all new I highly doubt any of them are having any problem.

    This is for a 1995 fld120.

    Is there anything specific for the fld120 or will any Standard mv3 Parking valve work?

    Also has anyone used the Bendix maintenance kid which is the replacement of the O-rings. Someone on a much older post recommended to do that because it's less expensive and even faster.

    If so does anyone know if this is the right part number for a 1995? It says for old-style mv 3 valves I guess a 1995 would qualify as that?

    Hopefully someone better will come by and answer, but until then....

    There have been a few posts here about guys going to harbor freight and buying an O ring set and pick set and fixing it for less then $20 for all of it.

    Well actually the genuine Bendix kit is only about $22 on amazon and apparently even FleetPride carries it or transaxle or any of those guys so they could probably have it to me maybe within the day if I order it.

    I just paid out $262.00 for the whole set up.
    I was told the valves are all the same on any truck. Some just have a different mount.
    Their were cheaper ones made in China for $65.00 on Amazon.
    After 2 million plus miles I think I got my moneys worth out of the OEM ones.

    When I bought my Truck, the valve was bad. Couldn’t find one on a Sunday. A Shop gave Me what looked like a brand new valve, that for some reason had been replaced. I took the guts from it, and fixed mine. It lasted less than a year. I bought a new one from Freightliner. It only lasted a few yrs. Bought another, it’s been good for 10 yrs. now. If you decide to rebuild it, I think the cylinders are the culprit. Don’t know if they should be honed, or oversized o rings used. I’d just buy a new one. Whatever brand is original.

    I would imagine that the actual original would be a Bendix.

    BTW I put that new Bendix air dryer in.

    Difference like night and day.

    Essentially Bendix or Wabco.

    When brakes applied, and you hear the leak, try pushing it up, down or sideways, usually can get them to stop leaking, till it can be changed. Once they start leaking bad, it’s a pain. Gotta find one right away, compressor Runs constantly, leak only gets worse. I once barely made it to Columbus, started leaking bad in Cincinnati.
