I think in this day and age it's more of a personal preference than anything else. Pros and cons to each, about equal overall. I Love Volvos (obviously) and don't want to drive anything else. However, despite my overwhelming preference, I don't think they are 'better', per say, than other brands.
That said, I have found, in my experience and exposure, that folks don't seem to care for Internationals so much. At least Swift drivers in the Swift fleet. But, they have a bigger lower bunk that is almost big enough for a couple. So, I could see a couple preferring them for that reason.

Choice of Brand is more important than ever. Each has Drivetrains particular to their Truck. They’re not all the same. I know your trying to do research now. Best thing to do is look at all 3 considered, drive them, price them, decide which one you like. Try to do some research on the one you like. Look for common problems. They all have their own unique problems. Warranty would be a bonus. Manufacturers Warranty, not a third party rip off. Really shouldn’t buy until you’re educated on the differences between Trucks and Drivetrains.

I would go with Volvo since most of the other trucks are having major issue with Sensor parts.

Find a columbia glider. Cheapest truck on the road to fix and maintain. Make sure it was built with a FACTORY rebuilt s60 Detroit. And go to work. You cant go to California but other than that anywhere else.
