Serious question. Why take that load? Why not deadhead out for better money? Why Take a 1.70$ load to cover fuel, waste a day loading/unloading, when you could've been 500 miles in on a 5$ a mile load?

There’s no good way out of Florida. It’s ether grab a cheap Load, or Lose a day and fuel DH out. Either way the average rate for all miles are bad. Better get a good rate going in.

    Indeed.
$3.48 going in, $1.00 going out averages out to $2.24 on the trip.
Not so bad. Not great, but not awful.

But, yeah, $1.70 is pretty good, but honestly it depends largely on where it puts you.
If it puts you in Mobile, you haven't gained much.

If I got 3.75 (4500) on 1200 miles and 1.70 (2000) coming out on 1200 miles then 2.70 (6500) is nothing to shake a stick at.

Better yet getting $5000 going in for a round trip of 2.91/mi. I don’t like cheap freight but it’s only cheap if you hauled cheap freight in.

Edit: Everyone on TTR always says don’t haul cheap freight out of bad markets. Have you ever considered you may be the cheap freight hauler coming in? It’s no different.
