Oh on the CDL test you just name off stuff. In practice it’s a whole different messed up world full of broken parts and frustration.

Don’t forget the broken dreams! There’s plenty of those too! Lol

OP, if you’re referring to the road test the companies give, I’ve never been asked physically check anything. It’s usually just tell them how you go about doing a pre-trip.

Honestly, I don’t think half of them know how to do a complete 100% accurate and legal pre-trip.

Hate to say it but I no longer climb under my truck. Gravel lot at yard and piss yard at truck stops. I started out on trucks without automatic slack adjusters and had to adjust the brakes a few times a day due hills and traffic conditions but not anymore.

I do check and shine a light on everything on my pre-trip, do a walk around anytime I stop and a post trip. But nowadays that's it.

I'm not perfect but at least I'm better than the bunk to driver seat crowd.

That's why I tried to remember to put my coveralls on first! The urine did not really bother me because a good hard rain will wash that crap away! It was mostly because of oil and grease all over the ground.

I see that every day, whether rest area or truck stop. A lot of guys start their “inspection” on their logs and head off to the bathroom. When they get back, they are gone.

If you do a full inspection when you park the night before. Not too much can change by the morning. That you won't catch from a simple walk around.

Oh, you don’t think so eh? Well friend, I see plenty when I’m slinking around, errr, I mean going for my nightly exercise walk. No one said anything about biting anyone!

*looks both ways before sneaking out of the thread keeping a low profile...”
