My best variable was my availability last year everybody needed my truck. Last year was the easiest and most profitable. I never went on the load board brokers emailed everything I could do. This year back to the load boards however there is still a lot of opportunity out there.

Update on this.. I had requested a quote on my policy if I went back to my 2007 F550 instead of the new truck...

The policy for the new truck valued at $50k is roughly $15k/year

The policy for the 2007 550 valued at $10k is a few dollars over $10k/year..

Absolutely insane they are charging that much difference for a newer truck that has more safety equipment but a higher value.

I guess I should have just fixed the older truck because a 50% increase just for a new truck is insane on top of the payment...

I mean $1,5k month is a rebuilt transmission on the older truck in one month or a new engine in 2.5 months.. savings wise..

See about Canal…..maybe in a couple years. Also if you can cut down on radius usually starting out everyone does unlimited.

You could, I found about them by accident. About 4 months before your agreement runs out sales people call wanting to give you a quote. One guy tells me I have been running awhile and haven’t had claims or tickets I could get a better quote with Canal. He says companies will give a better rate depending on these factors. Like in reverse if you have fender benders , speeding tickets, OOS etc. Now you have to have clean numbers for awhile I don’t know exactly that’s why don’t say “ Lite Bug “ sent me . Just saying these companies are out there . Personally my equipment is paid for and not high dollar. I stay in 500 mile radius. Regular cargo and liability like $4800 this year. Now Progressive quote was even lower but I won’t do business with them. I know everyone does not want to be limited to such a small radius, but I like sleeping at the house and not chasing the freight.
