And yes so far truck is 100% original minus the stretch which I’ll redo eventually. I’m 2nd owner and it only has 400k on it, verified through paperwork ;)

Another use too. Some guy wouldn't let my uncle back in when he picked up my dad's 281 Peterbilt. The flexpipe was off the elbow, so it was pointing right at the right lane. So my uncle tried to speed up, slow down and the guy just hung right next the cab. My uncle put his foot in it and pulled the compression release for a few seconds. The pipe loaded up with unburnt fuel, then he released the compression release. That ignited all the fuel and, well I don't know if it blew flames at him, but it rolled coal for sure!

I don't know about the cabovers but I used to drive long time ago an old Diamond Reo that had a 270 I think power torque Cummins that has a compression release.

I don't think it matters how you have it set up as long as you can release it to spin the engine.

That was a long time ago those were tiny engines for a tri axle dump truck really but they did the job and pulled pretty well for what they were.

Now I myself have the mighty Big Cam and I could not be happier with it.

It still has the oe aluminum Ancorlok spring brake cans before it was MGM the original Mccurdy bros who invented them. Rare and Rebuildable. I still got 2 still going strong after 52 years. The 2 that were on the front axle had too much corrosion on inside when I took them apart 10 years ago.

Not surprising, it’s had lots of maintenance done but it’s a 1 owner documented 400k mile truck so most of the stuff is original. Everything’s numbers matching even
