Wonder if he ever made it back to the states?
Should be easy enough if you want to. -
He was lucky he didn't flip it over before he got the bottom of the hill. I am sure it wasn't his intent to kill and injure all those people, and it's a shame he will do time for something unintentional. In my opinion, I think the bigger issue is the lack of proper training for driving mountains that steep. Many drivers are getting thrown into the fire without adequate training, and these types of things happen. Some months back, I actually got flagged down by a driver, inexperienced, and he smoked his breaks. He was out of Texas of I am not mistaken. I was going down La Veta pass on US 160 in Colorado. I stopped to check on him and his brakes were nearly cooked. I don't know that he even had a month experience, and he was working for some fly by night company. The equipment wasn't all that new, and didn't look the best either. He told me that he had caught another one of his company's trucks on fire, but they kept him on.....I looked at his breaks and they weren't gone, but they needed to cool badly. I told him to wait at least 2 hrs before trying to make it the rest of the way. By his accent, I could tell that he wasn't from here in the states, but I encouraged him to go to a more reputable company to get some adequate training. He was not ready to be out here, he got his CDL, and basically started running loads. While it's easy to blame the driver in both of these situations, and they definitely have to take some responsibility, the root of these problems is inadequate training before sending these newbies out on the road.

This will never end until the white collars who are really responsible go to jail for hiring inadequately vetted, untrained, inexperienced individuals and putting them in the seat of an 80,000 lb weapon.Last edited: Sep 26, 2021

Clearly he was in violation along with the company…this driver was NOT legal to possess a cdl at all..
@bryan21384…here’s the info to prove he was criminally liable because he wasn’t eligible to have a cdl..
