Eventually, every driver will be caught violating something. For 44 cents a mile what do you want? Good luck finding a driver that is sustainable by the standards of the camera. It’s just another reason to hope for an EMP grid down situation!

I was going to make a sarcastic remark about who does the driver facing camera film on a self driving truck, but decided it would fire up a flurry of folks explaining to me there would be some snuffy dozing at the wheel to catch the blame, so never mind.

Mostly all the companies are getting away from the inward facing cameras, that I called. As drivers are asking about them when they make first contact ( like I did ) with the companies that use them. Swift, Werner, only use outward facing cams. MVT ( search if you want to know, I don't want to on here ) had them, and that is the last company I will work for that does. I would hang my hat on it, and they said that was a violation of policy. As other negative things started to happen, I gave notice. They had those ridiculous trailer tailgates that fold out. Those were a lot of trouble. So, No, don't want to deal with those. Its another way to lose your job. Its much better to resign than to be fired. ( That's for the newbies, wink ) Back to the driver facing cams, they also audio recorded conversations. So if you say things they don't like, politically, or your opinion about the company. I am not keen on sensorship, or these in cab video cams. Your negative honesty about them, that's on you. There attitude changes. If you make calls to family, your spouse, doctor, whatever, they are recorded and can be played back, I have been told. They said in orientation the cams run on a 20 minute loop, then start again, removing the last 20 minutes. Yeah, right. Anyways, that is my first question for a potential company when they ask me, "Do you have any questions"? First question, do you have in cab sleeper facing cameras in your Trucks? I usually ask about 10 total. Standard really. Line 5 driving, thats huge, can my wife get in the truck at the start? Can I drive my own vehicle and park it at the Terminal? Huge one there. In case the job goes to S. Pay of course, benefits of course. Home time, but I don't care about the rest if they have those cams. Oh and one more item, those inward facing cameras capture the entire Cab of the Truck, its point directly at the Sleeper Birth and the wide angle captures the 2 front seats, and all the audio. So its a total privacy invasion. It doesn't just capture the driver, therefore its a LIE..... its is misrepresented, and I had to sign a document that I understood I was giving privacy rights away with this Cam video recording devise. I had my cap hanging on it most of the time, and we tired not to chat about personal stuff but some slipped out of course, so after 90 days, and the air conditioner completely stopped working at coachella ca in very hot summer weather, and the mechanical people said drive it back to El Paso, that was it. International Truck, horrible, to small for the wife and I, and folks thats all they used. 100% International Fleet and maintained by Penske. The shop was all Penske employees. We went through the safety line, I told the guy why we were there, he said okay, well do you have a load, we did, he said drop the load in C1 or B1, can't remember, take your tablet ELD and BOL to security, they will log it in, (believe it or not people that work there were stealing them and selling them in mexico, right across the border) park the truck with the bobtails. We will put it in the shop tomorrow or the next day. We stayed in the Truck that night. Cleaned it out into our mini van. I asked for 30 days family leave. It was granted. They called me like 24 days into the 30 and I told them I was not going to be able to continue driving for them. That was it.... MVT is a memory now. Please complain or better yet do not drive for a company that uses these devices, your hanging yourself out to dry. YOU are doing that for them. They can use the Audio as well. It faces the Sleeper Birth, just wanted to mention that again. Its a Distraction you do not need. So where those trailer tailgates, wow. Went to long here. Take care, Happy travels.

Not sure if it's already been posted but Old Dominion joined the carriers with outward and inward camera although inside camera it's off but who knows if it will eventually be turned on.

Eventually, FedEx will be adding cameras, as well. I don't know the timeline or if they'll be only outward facing or both out and in, but they'll be coming at some point in the future.

I do not know about the independent FXG contractors, or FXG as a whole, but I do know FXF & FXE are gettin' em at some point down the line.

Jacobson XPO has driver facing cam, but I don't know about any of the other XPO divisions.
