Fun question for somebody. Total cost of emissions system replacement vs fuel savings over a cat…. 4.7 mpg with cat 5.7 with x15. I am suspecting the new engine total cost of emissions junk is not that bad when comparing.
In need of some solid advice from experienced O/O

I'm 9 years in with my 13k 2000 truck. Almost went broke a few times. I would have if it wasn't for the nights and weekend working on her. And I was a heavy truck mechanic. Talk about how many times I wanted to give up, more than I can count. Still won't say I've made it. Still hard work. But what I have I own, title in hand. Getting into it, like I did will make you take a good hard look at yourself.
Side note, the new trucks. Mathematics tell me they are not for me. Considering dependability and cost. I would need to see reliability of my 2000 fl, and fuel milage over 14 mpg.
Bills are paid and house is full of food. What more can you ask for?SL3406, rollin coal, visionarygvp and 2 others Thank this. -
Compair a DD one box. 13k before a million. Im over 1.6 mill on my 2000 detroit. So your looking at 26k in 2 million miles that my truck will never need. That a engine, or two. Or 8280 gallons of diesel. Plus all the other related issues. I have zero problems getting part currently. Fl as they have changed in the last 20 years still have a good parts availability for the old trucks.visionarygvp and RedForeman Thank this. -
Now I gotta ask.
would you have considered that as “violating her” if he didn’t buy her?
I’m thinking at least he didn’t probe her with his…..visionarygvp, feldsforever and GYPSY65 Thank this. -
By comparison, there were two trucks there that had been altered, that had to be restored, they were looking at nar $15K.visionarygvp Thanks this. -
Everyone, and I do mean everyone, told me I bumped my head when I bought my '12 Cascadia.
Payment was $960 month.
Had $800 left to my name. 4-1/2 years ago.
This is my new ( now worth $500K ) house that's being built.
Moral to the story is advice is great. But hard work, sacrifice, being careful with your money, being easy on your truck, are worth a lot more.
God prefers Diesels, Speed_Drums, visionarygvp and 6 others Thank this. -
Pay the money back and take a local job and be home every night . Probably come out making more money .
feldsforever Thanks this. -
visionarygvp and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

8700 dollars in emissions is peanuts compared to fuel savings. Shoot that is 1 month fuel for truck and reefer. I have not priced out for myself yet but will have to when considering overhauling or getting it FIXED.
visionarygvp, Dave_in_AZ and feldsforever Thank this.
