Becoming Goal Oriented

Good stuff, it's something I deal with daily. Year 1 of being an o/o was started with renting equipment. Not only are the longterm objectives important, but short term goals are as well. I walked into this with the outlook of what progress looks like, but more importantly how will I work around the issues that will come up. Right now I'm on track to purchase equipment after the first of the year, and even with setbacks (some of which left me cussing angry and unfit company for anyone) I've done very well. I think the most important thing I've learned is not to measure my success against the words of others, too often they lie about their own achievements, break the rules to reach those achievements, and can be brought down as quickly as they rose.

 

I save up and then invest “units”
For me a unit is $25,000.00 cash.
I made a GOAL to save $25 K years ago and once I did I made another goal to save up another unit of $25 K. Now I have many units saved up and the next step is to store those units into VIGAX , VSGAX and VTSAX. After many years of doing this I look back and can’t believe I dumped so much $$$ into trucks , trailers and working .... Just bypass all the work and go straight to the $$$ and hire capitalists to make it grow for you almost free of charge and totally free of working.

And I don't plan to become so.
My default setting is to live each day as it comes.
And that is how people lived in those ancient times as well.

Your question left out a lot of people.
You assume that everyone actually needs a goal.
That is very short-sighted.

Answer me this...
Why do I need a goal in life?

And this...
Why can't I just be who I am and do the things I want, without having to have some goal in mind at all times?

Such a distraction in Life, if you ask me.

Also, being too focused on a goal can blind you to other possibilities. I've had a basic trust in life for many years now. And, life has taken me in numerous directions I would have never thought of. As a result, my life has been far more diverse, adventurous, entertaining and rewarding than I could have hoped for with my goals. IDK, to each there own. But, I've just do my best to show up, do what is in front of me to be done and pay attention to what life is trying to teach me. Also, never say never, not be too afraid of change, the unknown and being outside my comfort zone. My experience has been that life is going to take me where I need to go, my choice is to moan, fret, complain and worry or relax, trust and enjoy the ride. Doing my best to enjoy the ride!!! For me, it's been one heck of a ride so far. No regrets and wouldn't change a thing.

So are you saying having a purpose equates to having a goal?
And that those without a goal and/or purpose are actually corrupt, wicked, or perverted?

thanks six . sometimes the simplest messages are the best. This makes me stop and think about where im at and what i can do better, and make goals to reach that point i want to get to.
