Do you my friend, its definitely way more expensive to get in now than it was 5 yrs ago . The days of 50k or 60k trucks are done and everything from maintenance to fuel is astronomical. Good luck hope you can make it work . I'll be going local in a few years and get away from this otr life soon enough.
In need of some solid advice from experienced O/O

I miss the occasional long hauls. But constantly being gone is also not something I wish to do anymore.feldsforever Thanks this. -
Take my comments as you want to but being hourly is a huge plus. being an O/O is a huge risk.
I would never lease purchase, especially with no real backup funds, at least - NOT KIDDING - $35,000.
The other part of this is you are expendable as an O/O with this company. It don't matter to them whether you're in the fleet or not. They can kick you to the side to pay for the hourly FTE if work slows.
So I would just stay where you are at, hourly with benefits is a great thing to have.visionarygvp and LoneRanger Thank this. -

From what I know this is the perfect set up, that many guys and gals in the industry fight over. -
It's a blessing, and a curse. You can learn, and alot of people on here are willing to help. I'm just not sugar costing it. Its tuff. You can do it. Just try to learn from some of are mistakes.
Just remember, its not what you can make, its how much you can keep that matters.RedForeman and clausland Thank this.
