I beleive the bol is required to list whats being transported, in theory this allows the officer to verify it is not hazmat, after all, no one would ever LIE about that right?

In reality, he just wants to know so he can mark down what commodity youre hauling to put in his dot inspection

 

Why did you drive right into their trap? Where was this at? Sounds like idaho or montana pulling u over from a truck stop. They are like cheap lazy ######. Dont wanna do any work so lets just park by the truckstop and pull over the first truck we see and harrass the driver for no reason at all.

 

I'm not above lyin' here, or at least being as vague as possible. I am REAL general when asked this question.

"What are you hauling?"

"Building supplies", that covers a lot.

"Medical equipment", same.

"Machine parts/auto parts", can't go wrong there.

If it ever goes so far that you are caught in a lie, just play dumb and say oops, that was my last load.

Absolutely. You've also got to be ready to jump in to your act after you size up each officer every time. There are some days to be the dumb driver, some days to be the smart business person, etc.
