First I'm very sorry to hear of your situation.

Second thing is do you have the maintenance records for the truck?

The way the trucks are valued is not necessarily by the year or by the particular truck that it is, on an older truck like that you'll get the highest value by having the maintenance records because it shows what was done to it and all of the upkeep that was done. A truck like that has a higher value than a truck that has no maintenance records.

And if he did a lot of work to the truck and he kept up with it then the truck will have a higher value than another truck of the same year that that's not the case.

Owner operators keep track of all that so you should have files somewhere that shows what all of the work that was done to it.

I'm not sure there's a particular website anywhere that will give you a value based on the VIN number but if you can find those records and maybe post some photos and we can get some information about the truck I think right here we probably would be able to help you figure a value for it.

It would be helpful to know the year and model and what engine is in it and what transmission is in it. If you don't have that information that's okay, I'm sure we can help you to figure where to look for that and how to find that out.

Being specific about what the truck is will also help you when you do sell it.

Try not to be in a rush to sell it now until you can discover those maintenance records and figure what the truck exactly is because the used truck Market is bringing a lot of money right now and I would hate to see you sell the truck for less than you should get for it.

TruckPaper.com May be helpful but post info and pics about it here. Lots of knowledgeable people and it’s a sellers market right now.

    Sorry for your loss.

There is no exact site that values semi trucks like Kelly blue book. The values are more market driven and right now is about the best market to sell in the last 30 years.

You can search Truck Paper for similar trucks and compile a average. However I feel anything on truckpaper is overpriced.

Wish you the best of luck and do not give it away if its a nice cared for piece of equipment. This is a sellers market.

    Sorry for your loss
Did he have any honest friends in the industry who could help you set the value.? Someone familiar with the truck and its history
No hard and fast rule on used trucks,,its all determined by mileage, specs and overall condition.

I'm sorry for your loss, no one wants to lose a loved one. If I may suggest, start the truck once a week to keep the batteries charged and the rodents away.
Depending on age mileage and repairs, manual or automatic. day cab or sleeper and sleeper size. Color of the truck and mood of the buyer. And negation skills. You could be sitting on a decent check.
Please keep it started and du plenty of do diligence. I wish you luck. Please post pictures when you can.
