it's about 530 miles if you're picking up from the yard, and about 620 if you're picking up from Givens in Chesapeake. Loads run 16-20K, so a lot like pulling Volvo. Not a bad little run. -
Flatbedder 1966 and JoeyJunk Thank this.

As a personal note, it has been 35 years since I "sucked on the brown bottle", but during my life, I realized that I had a problem, woke up one morning and promised the wife, I QUIT! I quit "cold turkey". I did not go to "meetings" or "counseling", by the Grace of God, I had enough "will power" and here, 35 years later, I can say, I AIN'T HAD A DRINK IN 35 YEARS.Last edited: Sep 28, 2021

Dropped my trailer at 6:15 this morning. My reload came across as I was playing yard dog. Deadhead 545 miles to Santa Fe Springs for a drop and hook going to Hagerstown Maryland for Sunday evening.
The only issue was the 8 docks assigned to us were full with loaded trailers, except one, which meant my simple drop and hook wasn’t very simple. Oh well, I got to enjoy the crisp 45 degree fall air as daylight was coming. Then I did what every professional driver who takes this job seriously does, I did a thorough pretrip. Of course, only me can come up with 2 bad tires, literally with the steel bands showing, and 2 trailer tail lights out. So now, I’m at the Petro in Wheeler Ridge, at the end of my day, in the shop getting the 2 tires replaced, and the taillights fixed. So my 3am drop and hook in Santa Fe Springs will be slightly delayed.
I guess I could rant about this, but I’m trying my best to understand that this type of driver that dropped this trailer like this only thinks about themself and piss on the next driver. I wish Abilene would come up with some sort of policy that addresses………………

Yeah I've been at a Speedco for 8 hours and they just now have put a jack in place to replace a trailer tire. But then they walked away. That was 30 minutes ago. They close in 105 minutes. I was just informed that the mechanic has left early, and I'm pretty sure the problem with these trailer lights is a wiring problem.
They open again at 0600. Hope I don't have to try this all over again in the morning.
If they get the tire fixed maybe I'll just wait till daylight and pretend I'm just another careless steering wheel holder and drop this loaded trailer with the same light problems it was dropped empty with. Turn signals and brake lights work. It was supposed to drop in Savannah today and it's a new lane that the company loves and drivers would probably love, too, drop and hook on both ends.
But we can't have nice things because we gotta put meat in the seats, and nobody behind a desk seems to want to quantify the financial damage done by hiring careless drivers who don't actually know enough to change anything if they cared anyway.
Post will probably self-destruct soon.MidWest_MacDaddy, JoeyJunk, jarhead0311 and 2 others Thank this. -
