I am thinking about hiring on with Crete national div. I live about 150 miles from their kc terminal. just wanted to know if that would be a problem taking the truck home, or if I would have to take the truck the terminal and get a way home myself.

i worked for crete for two years, quit back in oct 07.......when i was there you could take it home with you, i lived about 50 miles from the terminal and alot of times i would go thru the terminal and drop the trailer and bobtail home or sometimes i would just park truck and trl at the truck stop closer to home, about 15 miles and then get picked up from there.....unless it has changed you should have no problem....i wouls still be there if the terminal manager was not such a b***h........but hey thats how the mop flops.....i could not take anymore from her, but the company itself was great at the time....good luck, be safe
startingover and Baack Thank this. -
sorry for the mis spell i meant i would, not i wouls.....lol

thanks Highwayman, I appreciate the info. I still don't understand their orientation process? 3 days in KC, and then drive for a week and then another two days in Lincoln, Nebraska? Am I missing something here?
-
it might have changed some, back when i was there it was all done in lincoln at one time....then you got ur truck and hit the road....they may have changed things up a bit, not sure on that one

I'm out of the Kansas City terminal, and when I lived in Columbia, MO it was never a problem to take the truck home. I've since moved to Jackson, MS, and there isn't a terminal within 350 miles, so I haven't paid attention to the truck take-home policy in over seven years.
But, I'll tell you an easy to find out 100% for sure what the policy is at Kansas City - call 800-998-0963 and ask them. -
Ok first off they say if you live within 50 miles of your terminal they want you to park the truck any thing over that take home. They want you to spend 3 days at one of their terminals for a road test and for a physical and drug screen. Then go to Lincoln for the real orientation. Its not bad left wensday from orientation. Theyfeed you from the cafateria, by the way the chicken gumbo is real good. You stay at a real nice motel and they treat you like a human being. Soon as i got my truck they got me a load south that ran through the house and arrived home on christmas eve. I have 4 and half days off before i deliver the load 350 miles south of where i live. The truck i got was a old century and the good thing about it is ill get a new one in a couple months. I love the company and the way the economy is and how some of the other trucking companes are hurting crete is prob the best one to be with right now. Replacing the whole fleet with new trucks and building a brand new terminal in Knoxville, TN. They are not in debt they have money in the bank.

Stay positive and try not to talk to too many negative truck drivers hanging out in front of the restaurant. -
Thanks for the info. I am planning on going to the KCMO terminal for my road test and physical 01/04. if everything goes ok I will be on the road in a week or so. Maybe I'll see you on the rd someday Newbie22
