I’ve seen only one in Virginia and that’s airgas. I recently came from a forum where drivers are either lying or these types of jobs are rare and only in certain states.
For example, a few drivers posted they’re making between $25-$33 an hour at certain trucking jobs. And get overtime after 8 hours. I’ve only seen Airgas hazmat offering in my state. Does anybody know anymore jobs in Virginia with this type of pay-scale? I want to bookmark them for future if I need new employment.
For another example if you work 12 hours at these types of trucking jobs, $25x8=200 4 hours times 37.5 OT equals=150. So total with this type of pay scale is $350 a day if you work 12 hours.
I have not found any jobs in Virginia offering this type of pay besides airgas. Where the hell are drivers finding these gigs.
Any body got info on Trucking jobs in Virginia paying OT after 8 hours

Your two best bets are Dedicated or LTL. The only number you should care about is Average Annual Gross - what does an actual driver make driving that truck on that route. Whether it's CPM or hourly the number you need to worry about is what you're earning at the end of a year. If they won't tell you or give you some jive about about "it depends how hard you work", just walk away. They know, they're just not telling you and you know why.
The good, high paying jobs aren't the ones with driver wanted ads on the back of their trailers. They usually don't advertise at all because they don't have to. Low turnover and word of mouth from happy drivers means they don't have to look for drivers.Last edited: Oct 2, 2021

LTL varies by market. In some places they'll hire Linehaul drivers right out of school. In the PNW I applied at Old Dominion with 2 years of OTR experience. I got called in for an interview. The terminal manager told me he called in 10 drivers to interview, only 1 would be called back and with just 2 years of experience (without tickets/accidents/incidents) it wouldn't be me. I was helping another driver on the forum from Houston, TX a few weeks ago. No driver openings - LTL outfits there wanted a CDL just to be a dockworker! No idea how tight the LTL market is in Virginia.
You can make more money in LTL, but Dedicated is a great plan B for consistent high earnings. You'll probably have to spend some time working the docks and will have to wait until you move up the seniority list for the best paying LTL gigs though.Last edited: Oct 2, 2021
