Friend of mine from Alaska, retired trucker, moved to Vietnam.
Bought a beachfront condo. Don't know if he's still alive.
That happened maybe 15 years ago and he was about 72 yrs. old then.
Is Las Vegas a dead zone for trucking?

He had a hot looking Chinese woman he married and moved to Alaska.
That didn't last long when she found womens clothing and underwear hidden in his house. Found out he had a girlfriend on the side, some Asian girl, so she divorced him. He lost everything plus the beachfront condo in Shenzhen, China. He paid $145G for it and now it's worth $1 million.
He's was doing ok though, his pension is $10G a month.Speed_Drums and John Joel Glanton Thank this. -

Plenty of trucking jobs also; some are union and some aren't, just depends on what a person wants. Local, OTR, line haul, etc. -
I have the DAT app and I was playing around with it checking out loads from different cities. Vegas looked busy. Lots of good paying loads going all over.

Run. Away. It's a trap. Go back to Vietnam. You're not going to be "enjoying the open road." You're going to be dealing with morons that don't know what a turn signal is, that don't know how to get on the interstate, that spend more time looking at their phone than the road. If you go otr expect to never know where you'll be spending the night more than maybe a day or two ahead of time. Driving on roads that if you close your eyes could be in a 3rd world or war torn country. You can make decent money, but at the expense of a life, your health, and sanity.
